Tips: Gift of Photography

Thursday, 04.23.09 | TIPs/FAQs, Weddings

To My Future B&Gs:

Did you know that you can get money back from the total cost of a wedding photographer? Yep! Here is how…

Once you hire me as your wedding photographer your guests — near and far — can purchase gift cards from me in lieu of a crockpot or fancy photo frame that you really don’t want. This way, you can still afford that Wedding Package of your choice and get some help from your guests in the form of a gift card. That’s right, any excess dollar amount goes back to you in cash! Nice, right???

The Night of the Henna

Monday, 03.23.09 | Weddings

It’s my first henna session ever!

I had the pleasure of documenting a recent bride being hennaed in preparation for her wedding this past weekend. It was basically two hours of dancing and awesome food. It was a whole lot of fun! But, because it was girls only, all the guys were removed from the house — only after running some errands first. haha! So, that meant my regular second shooter (Derrick Bautista) was ousted, too. Luckily for me, Missy Cochran, an awesome lifestyle and wedding photographer, was able to second-shoot with me. She is such an amazing talent!

Guest Photographer: Missy Cochran
NOTE: Per my client’s request, I can only share these few shots with you.

Wed: Liza & Lou

Saturday, 08.09.08 | Weddings

My first 15-hour wedding to date…

…and probably my last! haha! It’s not easy lugging around a 30-pound camera bag for hours and hours. My eyes start to cross and that’s not good considering it’s my job to stay “focused.” I know, I know … bad joke. Bleh! Anyway, the day started at 8:00 AM sharp — err, we all started at 8:00 while Liza strolled in around 9:00-ish! haha! It was a traditional Chinese tea ceremony at the bride’s parents’ home. Then it was off to a fun parade at the groom’s brother’s home for a traditional Laotian ceremony. Finally, the American ceremony was held at the Marriott-Portland Downtown Waterfront followed by a 10-course dinner reception for 550+ guests. That’s right, five hundred and fifty guests!!!

Wed: Rasha & Keith

Saturday, 10.27.07 | Weddings

Rasha and Keith agreed to do a quick and very private sneak peek of each other before the ceremony started. I do recommend this! However, it wasn’t that private … passers-by on the waterfront all stopped to stare at them. How could they not? Rasha is GORGEOUS!!!

Don’t you do it … Don’t you dare cry. Don’t you — D’oh! *sobs*

[Vernonia, Ore.] I got to second-shoot at Sarah and Eric’s wedding today. Yay!!! They didn’t have many details to shoot, however, they had plenty of hugs and kisses to give. Everywhere I looked they were a-huggin’ and a-kissin’. Oh, they had tons of beer, too! Wahoo!!!

After the ceremony, they snuck up to the top of the hill; I’m sure they wanted privacy, but it’s my job to be a snoop. (Hey, I do it very well!) So, because of such talent I was able to capture some very tender moments between the new husband and his wife. It was so sweet!!! *patting myself on the back* P.S. The newlyweds will be joining the Peace Corps in 2009, stationed in Africa!!!
