Shots w/Family “M”

Just when I thought the rain wasn’t going to let up … Today, I got to photograph a beautiful family, and the rain stopped long enough for us to take advantage of the remaining fall colors before winter takes over. This first photo [of mother and daughter] just melts my heart!!!

P.S. Yes, the rumors are true … I finally quit my day job and now I’m a full-time photographer! HOLLA!!!

Shots w/Adrionna (HS)

These are for you, Robin …

I was waiting for my first shoot of the day at a local Starbucks (geez, where else would I be???) when I heard someone call out my name. Eh, moi? I turned around to see two beautiful faces smiling at me, one of them belonging to young and vibrant Adrionna.

She has such a magnetic smile that I smiled along with her. On her shoot, I sometimes asked her to look away and focus on something, like her mom. This is how she looks when she looks at her mom…

Boudoir w/Ms. “P”

I will be posting some sneak peaks from a recent boudoir session soon…

P.S. This boudoir photo shoot was done at the Paramount Hotel and it’s supposedly haunted. Eeks!!!

UPDATE (01/22/09): Finally, we have photos! (I know, it was so not cool of me to make y’all wait for so long.) Anyway, here’s a little tidbit: Ms. “P” is a wife and mother of two; she contacted me to help her take some intimate photos of herself as a big surprise for her husband. She wanted to show him that after 16 years … she can still make it hot. And, I think she done just that!

Wed: Liza & Lou

My first 15-hour wedding to date…

…and probably my last! haha! It’s not easy lugging around a 30-pound camera bag for hours and hours. My eyes start to cross and that’s not good considering it’s my job to stay “focused.” I know, I know … bad joke. Bleh! Anyway, the day started at 8:00 AM sharp — err, we all started at 8:00 while Liza strolled in around 9:00-ish! haha! It was a traditional Chinese tea ceremony at the bride’s parents’ home. Then it was off to a fun parade at the groom’s brother’s home for a traditional Laotian ceremony. Finally, the American ceremony was held at the Marriott-Portland Downtown Waterfront followed by a 10-course dinner reception for 550+ guests. That’s right, five hundred and fifty guests!!!

Shots w/SheQouya (HS)

Meet my 2009 HS Senior Rep!

I love it when my clients come with their own style, abandoning all traditions. SheQouya likes the punk-rock look and that’s what MySa, of MUA by MySa, done up for her. MySa and I could not help but, to admire SheQouya’s very clean and clear complexion, and long and thick eyelashes! NO FAIR!!! Seriously! The rest of us are stuck with fake ones! BTW, yes, when you are a HS Senior Rep for MsB Photography you get your very own make-up artist on the set. So, for all you soon-to-be 2010 seniors, check my site often for your shot to be a rep!

NOTE: If referred to me by SheQouya it can save you some money. (Wow, I sound like a Geico commercial!)

Please welcome my 2008 Baby Rep!

My new baby rep, Iman, is as cute as can be. I love her big eyes! Oh, such a big girl, and just so DARLING!!! And, I just love her mohawk! She also has her big sister Naima’s ultra-long eyelashes! Gosh, I could just put her in my pockets and take her home with me! For serious! I’m sure her parents wouldn’t mind. But, I’d totally bring her back — just in time for a diaper-changing. Dude, y’all got to check out Baby Mila’s mohawk! Too cute!!! That’s all natural blonde highlights on her tips, too! Oh, and that pout of hers — ADORABLE!!! Hm, that’s probably why her parents get such a kick out of making her cry. No wonder why she’s pouting in that first shot.

NOTE: Her Ducks onesies only shows “ucks,” so maybe that’s why she’s really pouting? *pout*

Winner: 2008 Still in Love

And the winner is …

How truly fortunate am I that I get to photograph such fun and awesome people? The “N” Family is no exception … Read their contest entry below and you’ll see why. I think what got me was the part that the parents still make trips with each other and not even tell the kids where they’ve run off to! haha! That’s just way too cute, I say! Mom and Dad has never had their pictures professionally photographed so this was a lot of fun for me because they were up to anything I asked. Yay, just how I like it! “Excuse me, you want us to do what?” haha!

READ:STILL IN LOVE” (original contest posted on 03/27/08)
Just when I thought all this rain would ruin my whole weekend … I just saw the cutest thing ever!!!

I was crossing the street today and walked right by this elderly man who was holding up an umbrella over his wife’s head to protect her from the rain. OMG, I wish that I had my camera with me! It was so cute that I could not stop staring. So, guess what? I conjured up another contest for a free shoot with me!!! But, this time, it’s for the parents or grandparents in your lives …

P.S. The first photo is of the four siblings that entered the story and won this contest for their parents.

In reference to the pic where the ladies are walking barefoot: I think it's cute how Trang and Duy (wifey & hubby) are at the end of the line, sneaking a peek at one another. My analysis of it is that their glances to one another is connecting the two sides/ends together. Maybe I'm over-analyzing things or maybe I'm just too darned detailed and notice these little tidbits?! Regardless, love the photos! :) 4:09 pm

Tina does my nails and has for several years (4 Ever Nails). She's the best! I had never heard their story until I learned of this contest, and have to say I was a little surprised and, then again, not at all surprised to learn of their struggles. I have also met some of her sweet and beautiful daughters. Tina is now one of my biggest heroes as she remains one of the most generous and upbeat people I have ever known. Wow, what a story! We Americans take so much for granted, we need to be reminded from time to time of the plights of others. What a stunning family and an inspiration to all. I feel honored to know you and feel America is fortunate to receive you. P.S. Photographer, the photos are absolutely stunning! 1:42 pm

My parents met through a mutual friend after my mom moved to Corvallis from Hawaii. At first meeting, my mom wasn't too impressed, but gradually they became good friends. After the all important "what if this ruins the friendship" discussion they started dating. My dad moved from Corvallis to Portland to go to school, but with all his family, friends and girlfriend in Corvallis it wasn't quite the problem long distance relationships usually are. The proposal was about as unromantic as possible. After nine months of dating, my parents were at a party and my mom mentioned that she'd been looking for a new place to live. One of their friends said, "Why don't you two move in together?" My dad replied, "If we're going to do that, we should just get married." The friend said, "So why don't you?" My dad looked at my mom, "You wanna?" and my mom said "Yes." Somehow, 31 years, three children, several career changes and three houses later they're still together. Though they aren't the couple that exudes young love, they are the best of friends. And, as my mom has said before, "He brings out the best in me." 3:09 pm

Our parents’ love story has lasted 32 years and across two continents. They were married on June 10, 1976, at the tender age of just 18 and 20. We hear the story time and time again. Our mom was the “flower of the town.” She was the most sought-after girl, with long flowing black hair, and Dad was a tattooed rebel. We like to joke “So why did you end up with Dad?!” Within a year, they have a baby girl, named Tran, after Mom’s favorite fabric store. Yearning for freedom and a better life for their baby girl, they tried many times to escape their communist country, but to no avail. Each attempt was as dangerous as the first. The Viet Cong somehow knew of each escape plan, and their families were arrested and tortured in jail. They never got caught, but they would carry their baby girl to safety through the dark nights, chilled to the bone, so hungry they dug up potatoes to quiet the growling in their tummies. Led by the moonlight, they went through the rice fields, knee-deep in freezing water, dad holding up barbed wire for mom to crawl under, so scared but they don’t dare make a sound. By morning, they finally see a familiar home and rush the baby girl inside for she is now blue in the face. They go through this same ordeal over and over again, but they do not falter. Two years later, they have another baby girl named Trang. They are more determined than ever to give their children the best life they could possibly have. With courageous determination, they flee the only home they have ever known. They are barely adults, in a foreign country where they do not speak the language, where they do not have any friends, and where they do not have any money. God blesses them with another daughter, Julie, and finally a baby boy, Michael! And now they have four babies to feed. They juggle their four children, work, and school. They make minimum wage, which at the time was only $3.25, and still managed to support a family of six. Dad told Mom that when he makes $6 an hour, she won’t have to work anymore and can stay at home with the kids. Well, he makes more than that now but she’s still working! LOL. They gave up so much for us. They could have gone out and partied like teenagers, but instead they worked hard to build a stable foundation for their children. They have raised us to be exceptional people, teaching us values that will be instilled in us forever and will be taught to our own children. They brought us up in a fun and loving home, with happy memories to last a lifetime. Mom and Dad are 50 and 52 years old, but still act like teenagers in love. Dad comes home from work at night saying “Honey, I’m home!” and gives Mom a kiss. Mom sniffs him in return. They take romantic trips to the coast — without inviting us! We can hear them giggling throughout the night in their bedroom. We could only hope that we will have a love story as tender as theirs. June 10th will be their 32nd wedding anniversary. A photo session by Ms.Bunn would be the most perfect gift to them, so that they may capture a moment in time of their love story to share with generations to come.
